In New Leadership Posts

Leslie Hurst is the new president and publisher of The Idaho Statesman (Boise). She replaces Margaret Buchanam president and publisher since January 1999, who was promoted to president and publisher of The Cincinnati Enquirer. Hurst has been president and publisher of The HeraldDispatch in Huntington, W. Va. Hurst served on the board of the West Virginia Press Association.

  • Longtime Idaho Press-Tribune ad executive John Dillon is the new ad manager for the (Ontario,OR) Argus Observer . He previously worked for 16 years in the advertising department at the Nampa-Caidwell daily, Dillon served as an account executive for nine years, and then moved into management roles, both as assistant advertising director and inside sales director.
  • Jennifer Gibson is the new advertising account executive for special sections at the Coeur dAlene and Post Falls Press. Gibson has a bachelor's degree in journalism and completed marketing classes while in school. She also has a background in TV reporting and interviewing. Gibson graduated in journalism from the University of Montana.
  • The Shelley Pioneer has hired Kendra Evensen and Jamy Corbett as additions to their news staff. Corbett is a graduate of Utah StateUniversity, who worked as a correspondent for The Salt Lake Tribune and as news editor at The Cache Valley Citizen in Logan, UT. She was managing editor of The Leader, a weekly newspaper in Tremonton, Utah.
  • Bonner County Daily Bee Publisher and Editor David Keyes has named Caroline Lobsinger as the Sandpoint daily's managing editor. Lobsinger, who has been managing editor at the Shoshone County News-Press in Kellogg, returns to the Daily Bee after the past five years in the Silver Valley. Lobsinger replaces Kary Miller, who accepted a position in the Bee's production department in early May.
  • The Shoshone county daily paper has replaced Lobsinger with Erin Stubner as new M-E. Stubner has been editor of a weekly paper in Bremerton (WA)and started her career at the Hagadone Group daily in Moses Lake (WA).
  • Greg Boyer has joined the Idaho Mountain Express to enhance its news coverage and upgrade it Internet services, announced Pam Morris, publisher. He has been hired to fill the new position of Internet manager for Express Internet Publishing. Boyer's responsibilities will include Internet advertising sales, virtual tours production, and Homefinder real estate site development. Boyer recently moved to Ketchum from New Jersey.
  • The North Side News (Jerome) management has named Lisa Bishop as the new editor/staff writer at the newspaper.
  • The Wood River Journal has hired local journalist Kristan Kennedy as its new editor. Kennedy is a former Wood River Journal reporter. Kennedy began her reporting career locally at the Idaho Mountain Express in 1989. She has written for the Twin Falls Times News, The Idaho Statesman and Snow Country Magazine. She has won first place awards with the Idaho Press Club for Best Series, Serious and Light Features, Environmental Reporting and Spot News.
  • The St. Maries Gazette Record recently hired Estar Holmes to cover news on the WestSide and other communties surrounding St. Manes. She previously worked for the Chewelah Independent and the East Oregonian (Pendleton,OR) and she has had essays published in the Spokesman Review, Truth Seeker, and by the North American News Service. She was a student in the Native American Studies program at the Evergreen State College in Washington. She investigated conflicts over land, culture and politics in the northwest.
