CREDIT UNION MEMBERSHIP IS REAL...AND SO ARE THE BENEFITS
Membership in Valley Community Credit Union has many advantages. As a
member, you're a part of a unique financial co-operative, a group of
people with a common interest who have joined together to help one
another in money matters. By pooling their savings, our members create
a source of funds for loans, which are made available to 'members only'
at reasonable rates of interest.
IT'S YOUR CREDIT UNION
Credit Union membership means more than access to a savings program and
low interest loans. It means the opportunity
to have a say in how the Credit Union is run. It means you elect, or
can run for election to, the Board of Directors. You can serve on
volunteer committees. You can meet with management to discuss your view of
how well the Credit Union is serving it's members. In other words, you can
directly influence the products and services the Credit Union provides.
WHO OWNS AND CONTROLS THE CREDIT UNION?
The sole ownership and complete control of your credit union rests
directly with you, the member. Each member has one vote regardless
of the number of shares he or she has in the credit union. All assets
belong to the members and net earnings are returned to them through the
payment of dividends, interest and the accumulation of reserve accounts
for the protection of their investments. Membership meetings are held each
year and control by members is exercised through annual elections of the
Board of Directors. The Board is responsible for the general direction and
control of the affairs of the credit union.
For more information about credit unions, or to find a credit union you
can join in your area, check out The
Idaho Credit Union League or The Credit
Union National Association. Valley Community Credit Union is a member
of both of these organizations and supports credit union concepts
world-wide.
